Below is the overview and links of your training. You will follow this, day by day, whether you are beginning full time or part time. We ask that you please do not skip ahead—slowly digest and put into practice what you learn. Weeks 9 focus on the foundations of working with children and responsive teaching, with is a priority at Nourish.

Day 46: Curriculum Overview

This session introduces educators to the key curriculum approaches that shape classroom learning and teaching practices. Participants will explore how Reggio-inspired principles, Creative Curriculum, Learning Without Tears, and the Heartful Approach each contribute to a thoughtful, developmentally appropriate learning environment. The session emphasizes how these approaches can work together rather than exist separately, helping educators understand the purpose behind classroom experiences, materials, routines, and interactions. By seeing the bigger picture, teachers can make more intentional decisions that support the whole child.

Day 47: Piramide: The Power of Play

This session explores the essential role of play in early childhood development and how children gradually build the skills needed to play with others. Educators will learn about the stages of play, including how children move from independent exploration toward more social and cooperative experiences. The session emphasizes observing where a child is developmentally rather than expecting all children to engage in play in the same way. By understanding the progression of play, educators can better support social development, communication, problem-solving, and meaningful peer interactions.

Day 48: Consistency with Children

This session focuses on the classroom environment as an active part of children’s learning and development. Drawing from Reggio Emilia principles, educators will explore the idea of the environment as the “third teacher” and consider how room arrangement, materials, lighting, accessibility, and invitations to play can influence children’s engagement. The session encourages educators to think intentionally about how spaces communicate expectations and invite curiosity, independence, and collaboration. By thoughtfully designing the environment, teachers can create richer play experiences that encourage exploration and deeper learning.

Day 49: Celebrating Each Other's Strengths

This session focuses on the importance of smooth transitions between teammates and how they directly impact classroom flow and children’s behavior. Educators will learn what a “clean hand-off” looks and sounds like, including how to communicate clearly and proactively during moments like diapering, snack time, or transitions between activities. The session emphasizes planning ahead and staying one step ahead of the classroom’s needs. By strengthening hand-off practices, teams can reduce stress, prevent confusion, and maintain a calm, responsive environment for children.

Day 50: Teaching as a Relational Practice

The final session of the week supports educators in building strong, respectful communication practices within their teams. Participants will explore how to speak with kindness, clarity, and directness, and when to address concerns privately versus in the moment. The session also provides practical scripts for navigating difficult conversations and emphasizes the value of daily check-ins to stay aligned. By creating shared communication agreements, teams can build trust, prevent misunderstandings, and maintain a culture rooted in connection and accountability.
