Welcome to Nourish
Below is the overview and links of your training. You will follow this, day by day, whether you are beginning full time or part time. We ask that you please do not skip ahead—slowly digest and put into practice what you learn. Weeks 6 through 7 focus on the foundations of working with children and responsive teaching, with is a priority at Nourish.
Day 26: Understanding the why behind behaviours
This session reframes challenging behavior as meaningful communication rather than defiance or misbehavior. You’ll explore how developmental needs differ across age groups and how unmet needs often show up as behavior. Educators will also reflect on their own emotional triggers and responses, building greater self-awareness so they can respond to children with curiosity, empathy, and intention rather than reaction.
Day 27: emotional safety - Creating a Calm Nervous System in the Classroom
This training focuses on how a child’s environment and relationships directly shape behavior and emotional regulation. Educators will learn why regulation must come before redirection and how emotionally safe classrooms reduce behavior challenges before they escalate. Practical tools such as intentional presence, calm tone, predictable routines, and consistency will be emphasized to help create a classroom where children feel safe, seen, and supported.
Day 28: the role of the adult
This session highlights the powerful role educators play in shaping children’s regulation through their own nervous systems. Educators will learn to recognize signs of dysregulation in both themselves and children, understanding how stress and overwhelm can spread in a classroom. Educators will practice quick, effective co-regulation strategies that can be used in the moment to restore calm, model self-regulation, and support children through big emotions.
Day 29: connection before correction
This session centers on the idea that strong relationships are the foundation for effective behavior guidance. Educators will explore practical techniques to build trust, strengthen connection, and prevent behavior escalation before it begins. The session includes age-appropriate daily connection rituals and strategies for holding firm boundaries with empathy, helping children feel both emotionally supported and securely guided.
Day 30: developmentally appropriate practices
This session helps educators align expectations with what is truly realistic for each developmental stage. Educators will examine common behavior challenges through a developmental lens and learn the difference between illogical, natural, and logical consequences. The session emphasizes maintaining structure without shame, empowering educators to respond to behavior in ways that support growth, accountability, and emotional safety while honoring each child’s developmental capacity.
