Toledo Lucas County Public Library

Our Ready to Read initiative helps parents prepare their children (ages birth to preschool) for kindergarten while providing the information and tools needed to build important early literacy skills.

Is your child starting kindergarten soon? Our Kindergarten KickStart programs are part Storytime, part information session. Guests take home a backpack with early literacy materials.

We picked 101 of our favorite picture books and we want you to read them! Our list includes classics, new titles and everything in between. Sign up online or pick up a challenge book at any Library location

Wheeler House

“The Butterfly House contains over 1,000 butterflies with many different species from North & South America and Asia. The facility was built with the idea of developing beautiful gardens in a controlled environment to exhibit butterflies to the general public. An opportunity to learn about the life cycle of the butterfly and how to promote a healthy environment for these special insects will be provided as well. The average life span of the butterfly is 2 to 3 weeks, so each week we introduce new species. Throughout the season we will have over 100 different species, so multiple visits can be rewarding. Our experienced staff are available to answer your questions.

We hope you enjoy your visit.”

Nature's Nursery

Nature’s Nursery Center for Wildlife Rehabilitation and Conservation Education is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization located in Whitehouse, Ohio. We provide medical care to injured, orphaned or ailing wild animals, and conduct conservation educational outreach programs for children and adults.

Our mission is to improve the well-being of Northwest Ohio wildlife populations and habitats through public education and rehabilitation, with an emphasis on coexistence.  As important as our rehabilitation services is our community education programming.  We reach over 15,000 children and adults through our education animal ambassadors, teaching them the importance of our local wild populations, how to protect their habitats and how best to live in harmony with the wildlife in their own backyards.
