More than a school.

Our founder, Barb Shellhammer, fully exemplified our vision. Her and her husband, Robin, built Nourish with the love and compassion necessary for cultivating love, curiosity and wonder in young minds. With an apt for unconditional love, we can allow children to fully investigate their natural brains, bodies and spirits.

Barb and Robin

Barb held nearly 30 years of experience as a preschool teacher and director before opening Nourish Early Learning. Robin was an intricate support in the building infrastructure, as well as supportive in owning and operating a small business. Barb’s son helped looked over the financials and her eldest daughter helped paint the walls. Barb’s middle daughter quit her nursing career to work for Barb full time and her youngest daughter assisted with marketing and business strategy. It was a full family affair.

Sadly, after 9 months of doors open, Barb, Robin and Whitney (their eldest daughter) were involved in a fatal car accident.

When asked if Nourish should remain open, her remaining children, Zach, Miken and Alex, didn’t question a thing: of course, for the children.

Miken and Alex now own and operate Nourish Early Learning and it continues to carry our families pulse. Nourish’s story is unique. We focus on a culture of love to allow us to see the whole child. We focus on social-emotional health with a curriculum centered on a heartful approach to life. We truly take brain, body, spirit seriously, knowing by being connected to all three, we become our true selves. Your children are connected to all three: our aim is to nourish them where they are.
