Seedling | Infant Care

Our infants are our seedlings; the babies who spell ‘love’ by feeling safe, secure and deeply cared for. This room is for those babies 6 weeks through mobility (which varies from child to child). The first year is an exponential time of learning and development, but most of it is happening under the surface until we see those “big” milestones, hence they are our Seedlings.

Infants need a schedule that is regular enough to be predictable and flexible enough to meet their individual needs by respecting their unique biological rhythms. In general, the younger the child, the more flexible and individualized the schedule must be. But even our youngest babies gain a sense of security when the schedule is somewhat regular.

At Nourish, the Seedlings daily schedule consists of some basic routines and activities that occur throughout the day. Our teachers take special care to ensure that these routines and activities correspond to the individual schedule of each infant in our care. Our days are structured to allow the infant time with others, time alone, active times, quiet times and one-on-one time with a special adult during the course of the day.

Parent communication within the first year is quite important as building trust with the family allows the child to feel secure. The teachers are better able to support the babies when they are in communication with the family. We use a messaging app as a tool to support the growth of your child.
