Day 31: Guidance Tools for Working with Children

This session introduces practical, developmentally appropriate guidance tools that help educators respond to behavior with clarity and compassion. Educators will explore strategies such as redirection, offering choices, visual supports, the FLIP IT method, and the use of calm-down areas, with guidance on how to adapt each tool across different age groups. The session reframes discipline as an opportunity for skill-building, empowering educators to teach emotional regulation, problem-solving, and communication rather than relying on punishment.

Day 32: Transitions — Preventing Behavior Through Predictability

Day 32 focuses on transitions as a common trigger for challenging behavior and how predictability can significantly reduce stress and dysregulation. Educators will learn why transitions are difficult for young children and how tools like visual schedules, consistent rituals, and verbal or visual cues support smoother movement throughout the day. The session emphasizes preparing the child’s brain for “what’s next,” helping children feel secure, capable, and ready to transition with confidence.

Day 32 Training

Day 33: Aggression, Defiance, and Power Struggles — How to Respond

This session provides educators with clear, calm strategies for responding to behaviors such as hitting, biting, back talk, and running away. Participants will learn to differentiate between behavior rooted in testing limits versus behavior driven by distress or unmet needs. By reframing defiance as a lack of skill rather than intentional misbehavior, educators will gain tools to de-escalate power struggles and respond in ways that support safety, connection, and long-term behavior change.

Day 33 Training

Day 34: Social Conflict — Coaching Children Through Peer Challenges

Day 34 equips educators with strategies to support children through common peer conflicts such as sharing struggles, exclusion, teasing, and disagreements. Educators will practice compassionate scripts that coach children through problem-solving while honoring their emotions. The session emphasizes teaching empathy and social skills without forcing apologies, helping children develop authentic understanding, accountability, and healthy peer relationships.

Day 34 Training

Day 35: Building a Consistent Classroom Culture

The final session of the week focuses on creating a classroom culture that supports regulation, belonging, and positive behavior through consistency and alignment. Educators will explore the role of rhythm, routines, visuals, and shared expectations in reducing behavior disruptions. The session also emphasizes the importance of shared language and daily rituals across staff, ensuring children experience predictable, supportive environments where they feel safe, connected, and ready to learn.
