Welcome to Nourish

Below is the overview and links of your training. You will follow this, day by day, whether you are beginning full time or part time. We ask that you please do not skip ahead—slowly digest and put into practice what you learn. Weeks 9 focus on the foundations of working with children and responsive teaching, with is a priority at Nourish.

Day 51: Music, Movement & Chants

This session explores how music, movement, songs, and chants support learning across multiple areas of early childhood development. Educators will examine how rhythm and repetition strengthen language development, vocabulary, phonological awareness, and memory while keeping learning playful and engaging. The session also highlights the role of music and chants in routines and transitions, helping children anticipate what comes next and feel more secure throughout the day. Through shared movement and song, children also build confidence, self-expression, and a stronger sense of connection with their classroom community.

Day 52: Process Art

This session introduces process art as an open-ended approach that values exploration, experimentation, and creativity over producing a specific finished product. Educators will explore how offering a variety of materials, textures, and tools gives children the freedom to make choices and express their own ideas. The session highlights how process art supports fine motor development, problem-solving, decision-making, and independence. By removing the pressure to create something the “right” way, educators can foster confidence, individuality, and a genuine enjoyment of the creative process.

Day 53: Books and Literacy

This session focuses on the important role books and literacy experiences play in building a strong foundation for future reading and writing. Educators will explore how shared reading supports vocabulary, language development, print awareness, listening comprehension, and early literacy skills. The session also emphasizes making reading interactive by encouraging children to ask questions, make predictions, and connect stories to their own experiences. By creating positive and consistent experiences with books, educators can nurture curiosity, imagination, and a lifelong love of reading.

Day 54: Sensory Play

This session explores how sensory and messy play support children’s learning through hands-on exploration and discovery. Educators will examine how materials such as sand, water, playdough, and other textures encourage children to investigate using their senses while developing fine motor skills and early scientific thinking. The session highlights opportunities for children to explore cause and effect, experiment with how materials change, and build confidence with unfamiliar sensations. Sensory play is also presented as a valuable tool for self-regulation, giving children meaningful opportunities to explore, release stress, and engage with their environment in a developmentally appropriate way.

Day 55:

The final session of the week supports educators in building strong, respectful communication practices within their teams. Participants will explore how to speak with kindness, clarity, and directness, and when to address concerns privately versus in the moment. The session also provides practical scripts for navigating difficult conversations and emphasizes the value of daily check-ins to stay aligned. By creating shared communication agreements, teams can build trust, prevent misunderstandings, and maintain a culture rooted in connection and accountability.
